Conference Proceedings
On June 28 in Montreal, just prior to the World Congress of Environment and Resource Economists (WCERE), Sustainable Prosperity (SP) and Resources for the Future (RFF) brought together leading global scholars in this field for a high level dialogue to compare research, share insights, and identify future policy research priorities on understanding how environmental regulation might enhance innovation and increase competitiveness.
What are the challenges facing entrepreneurs seeking to break into the “New Energy Economy”? What leading technologies are being developed and marketed in both Canada and Germany to address these issues? How can governments support sustainable growth and the development of renewable energies?
"A New Conversation About Environmental and Economic Success"
On February 27-28, 2009 SP brought together 50 influential Canadians to discuss what it would take to build a successful campaign for a green economy.
This conference marked the first time that Canada's premier academic and civil society experts on federalism, intergovernmental relations, and fiscal policy turned their expertise to the issues of carbon pricing.
Sustainable Prosperity (SP) convened 25 senior Canadian economists, academics, business executives, environmental group leaders, and research directors from think tanks to explore key issues related to the mix of carbon pricing instruments (carbon tax, cap and trade, or a mix thereof) and to seek common ground on an effective carbon pricing approach for Canada.
