Continental Divide? Canadian and US Views on Energy and Climate Change February 23, 2011

This event featured the results of the Public Policy Forum - Sustainable Prosperity Survey of Canadian Public Opinion on Climate Change and its American counterpart. These ground breaking academic studies are the first of their kind to explicitly compare public opinions on climate change science and policy in Canada and the US; and will provide a basis for discussing energy and environmental policy directions for North America. The breakfast roundtable will engage policy makers, researchers, NGOs, and business leaders who have an interest in these policies. Following the initial release and roundtable, an in-depth analysis of the survey results and implications will appear in publications by the Brookings Institution in the United States and the Public Policy Forum in Canada among others.

SP Speaker Series: Climate Policy in Canada - Issues in Regional Impacts and US Coordination November 26, 2010

SP hosted an event with Prof. Mark Jaccard, from the School of Resource and Environmental Management, Simon Fraser University, on November 26th, 2010.

He spoke on the topic of “Climate Policy in Canada: Issues in Regional Impacts and US Coordination”, followed by a discussion. His talk built on the C.D. Howe Institute paper “Regional impact of climate policy in Canada,” (released November 25th, 2010). The paper uses economic modelling to address the question of the link between different designs of carbon pricing and different regional impacts.
